How do I add analytics to a Base44 app?

23 September 2026 · by Nordva, who make Nordva Launch

The short answer

Base44 already counts visits, visitors, pages, countries, devices and how people arrived, for a published app. To add another tool, its script goes in the app's index.html, which Base44's docs say to edit in the Code tab; its plans page lists in-app code edits from Starter up. Paste your Nordva Launch tag there, publish, and list your base44.app address in Launch.

Add Nordva Launch web analytics to this app.

1. Add the script tag I paste at the end of this message inside the <head> of index.html, exactly as given. Don't change its attributes, don't load it twice, and don't add it inside a React component.
2. Add data-nordva-goal="signup" to the main signup or "Get started" button, so clicks on it count as a goal.
3. Leave Base44's own analytics as it is. Don't add any other analytics, cookie banner or tracking code, and don't change anything else.
4. Tell me which files you changed.

What Base44 already measures

Analytics is on by default for Base44 web apps and starts collecting once the app is published; visits in the editor preview don’t count. Open Dashboard, then Analytics. The Traffic Overview tab shows total visits, unique visitors, visit duration and live visitors, with cards for pages, locations, how people arrived, operating systems and devices. You can add custom events, such as clicks on a signup button, by describing them to the AI chat: three on Base44’s Free plan, unlimited from Starter. A Sales Overview tab shows payments processed through Stripe.

What it keeps depends on your Base44 plan: 7 days of history on Free, 30 days on Starter and up, 365 days on Enterprise. Base44’s docs don’t describe reading UTM tags, and the Sales Overview lists payments and top customers without saying where each customer first came from. That’s the gap Launch fills.

Where a tracking script goes in Base44

Base44 apps are React apps built with Vite, and the page every route loads from is index.html at the project root. Base44’s SEO docs say it plainly: you can use the Code tab to edit the generated index.html and add <script> tags that must sit in the HTML source, such as analytics scripts. This is also the answer for Google Analytics: its tag goes in the same place, the same way.

There are two ways to try:

  • The Code tab, the way Base44’s docs describe. Base44’s plans page lists in-app code edits from Starter up, not on Free, and doesn’t name the Code tab itself, so a Free account may not be able to save there. Open Dashboard, click Code, open index.html, paste the tag before </head>, and click Save.
  • The AI chat. Base44’s docs don’t say whether the chat can edit index.html, on Free or on any plan. The prompt above asks it to by name, and not to put the tag inside a React component, where it could load more than once. If it can’t, the Code tab is the documented way, and step 5 below shows whether the tag is live either way.

Step by step

  1. Get your script tag. Sign in to Nordva Launch and open Insights. The setup card shows your tag with your site id filled in:

    <script defer src="https://e.nordva.dev/v1/s.js" data-site="ste_…"></script>
  2. List your domains. On the same card, add the address visitors use: your yourapp.base44.app address, and your own domain if you connected one (custom domains are on Base44’s Starter plan and up). Launch counts visits only from the domains you list. If you rename your base44.app address later, the old one stops working at once, so update the list the same day.

  3. Add the tag. Edit index.html in the Code tab, or paste the prompt above into Base44’s AI chat with your tag at the end and check the files it says it changed include index.html.

  4. Publish. Code changes only go live when you click Publish in the top bar and then Publish in the menu that opens.

  5. Check it. Open the published app in a new tab and click around. The Insights card says “Your first visit is here.” when the first visit arrives, usually within a minute. If it never does, either the tag isn’t on the live app or its address isn’t in your list.

What you see after that

Visits by source, including UTM tags and ?ref= on the first page, the pages people read, countries and a map of where visitors are, devices, and how many people clicked your signup button. Launch leaves out known bots, visits from data-centre networks and requests without a browser language, so the numbers are people. Raw events are kept 90 days.

Tag the links you share, such as ?utm_source=reddit&utm_campaign=launch, so two posts on the same site show up as two rows.

The part Base44’s docs don’t describe comes next. When a visitor joins your waitlist through a Launch form, or your app calls nordva('identify', { email }) after a signup, Launch links that person to their first visit. Connect Stripe (read-only, on every plan) and Insights shows which sources brought the customers who paid.

Visitors in Europe

New sites start in the auto tracking mode. Visitors outside the EEA, the UK and Switzerland get a first-party cookie, so a returning visitor counts once. Inside them, that only happens after your cookie banner gets a yes; until then their visits are counted without an id. The script sets nothing until the server says it may.

Limits

The Free plan includes 10,000 analytics events a month per account and one funnel of up to three steps; Indie includes 100,000 events and five funnels. There’s no time limit on Free and no card needed.

When Launch is the wrong tool

If Base44's own Analytics tab answers your questions (how many people came, which pages they read, which buttons they clicked), you don't need a second tool yet. Launch is for when you need to know which post, ad or newsletter brought the people who signed up and paid.
